In Brief: Nokia in HSDPA deal with Celcom
Nokia will provide Malaysia's Celcom with high-speed downlink packet access services.
The program will allow Celcom subscribers to increase connectivity speed by up to 10 times the current rate and see prices fall as well, Nokia said. In addition, the Finnish group will be expanding Celcom's current third-generation network to four new regions in the country.
"This deal further strengthens our ties with Celcom, and shows Nokia's commitment to bringing the most advanced mobile services to fast growing markets in Asia Pacific," Bill Chang, country director of Malaysia networks at Nokia, said in a news release.
Celcom is a subsidiary of the TM Group.
