In Brief: Global Bluetooth sales surging

June 19, 2006

Bluetooth sales worldwide have nearly tripled in 2005, according to research group Strategy Analytics.

The group said that global sales of Bluetooth headsets reached 33 million units last year, with Motorola, Jabra and Plantraonics leading the marketing to make up 57 percent of the total share.

Strategy Analytics also reported that total wholesale revenues will likely reach $2 million in 2007, which would make it the world's largest accessory market for mobile devices.

"More expensive stereo headsets, complementary to the surging wave of multimedia phones, will drive revenue growth," it added.
