In Brief: Alcatel payload on Arabsat comm satellite

Alcatel Alenia Space will provide the payload for Arabsat's BADR-6 "Full Moon" satellite for Arabsat (Arab Satellite Communications Organization).

Full Moon will go operational in 2008 and provide television, telephone and data service over much of the Middle East and North Africa. It is equipped with 24 C-band and 20 Ku-band transponders, and is based on the EADS Eurostar E2000-plus satellite.

Arabsat is the leading satellite provider to the Middle East Arab community.

Prime contractor EADS Astrium will place the satellite at 26 degrees east where other Arabsat spacecraft are located.
