SIA: Chip sales jump 9.4 percent in May

(AP) -- Strong demand for cell phones and other consumer electronics drove a 9.4 percent increase in global chip sales in May, the Semiconductor Industry Association reported Monday. Total sales for the month were $19.7 billion, up from $18.1 billion last year.
