Briefs: Yahoo! launches travel Web site

October 26, 2005

Yahoo! launched Wednesday a travel guide that allows users to plan their trips as well as look up information about their destinations.

Yahoo! Travel will provide a database of about 500,000 lodgings and activities in more than 40,000 destinations worldwide, the Internet search-engine group said in a news release.

"The launch of Trip Planner and our expanded community and content offerings are just the beginning of our plans to build the ultimate online travel resource," stated James Slavet, general manager of Yahoo! Marketplace travel and autos.
