October 31, 2005

XM Satellite Radio said Monday it will offer portable satellite radio with traffic and weather reports.

The network said it has tied up with Garmin International to create portable navigation devices that will be XM-compatible.

"XM gives our customers even more reason to love the new generation of StreetPilot products," Gary Kelley, vice president of marketing at Garmin, said in a news release.

The StreetPilot 2730 will have a touch screen that can be placed on a dashboard.
