Qiao Xing unit releases PC mobile phone

November 1, 2005

Qiao Xing Universal Telephone has released a new mobile phone that offers full Internet access.

The P08 phone unveiled at this week's Expo Wireless show in China was developed by Xing's CEC Telecom subsidiary and includes capabilities for Internet surfing, video conferencing and messaging. It runs on the Windows Mobile 5.0 Operating System.

Company officials said the P08 would be released to the public before the end of the year, along with other new high-end handsets.

Xing Vice Chairman Wu Zhi Yang said the P08 was the first product produced by CEC's relationship with Microsoft and one of a "series of significant moves in the implementation of CEC's 'Multimedia Mobile Phone Strategy.'"
