Briefs: Sprint service in Fla. almost recovered

November 1, 2005

Sprint Nextel said Tuesday it has nearly completed restoration of its networks in south Florida.

The mobile-phone group said about 2,100 local lines still remain out of service of the total 2 million lines in Florida. The company said it is still trying to restore services in the southeast coast, primarily in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Monroe, Martin and St. Lucie counties.

Florida state vice president of the company, Charles Rehwinkel, said in a news release that Sprint Nextel is still asking "that local telephone business and residential customers notify us of any outages they're experiencing."
