Briefs: Samsung's digital-music hopes remain high

Samsung Electronics said Friday it will offer technical support to its Internet-based music partners that are rivals to Apple's iPod.
The South Korean company said that while it has no plans to launch its own music download services, it will be offering support to companies such as Napster.

"We're not interested in the online music services market but we plan to offer technical support to our partners to make their services easier and fancier and that would increase our hardware sales," Choi Gee-sung, president of the company's digital media division, said at a news briefing.
