Scientists find more bones of big camels
A handout photo released by the Syrian Department of Antiquities and Museums in Damascus on Monday, Oct. 9, 2006. The imaginary photo reveals the modern-day camel and a giant camel (background). The bones of a giant camel dating back 100,000 years have been unearthed in the Syrian desert, a government newspaper has reported. The bones were discovered by a joint Syrian-Swiss archaeological team at the site of al-Hemel in the Palmyra region about 250 kilometers (150 miles) northeast of Damascus, the state-run Tishrin daily reported Saturday.
