Harvard seeks to tap soul of leadership

A "cutting-edge" psychological program is helping Harvard fellows tap into and cultivate their natural leadership capabilities, the Massachusetts school says.
The Leadership Path, created for the Kennedy School of Government's Center for Public Leadership by the Hoffman Institute of San Rafael, Calif., has been shown to help diplomats, politicians, U.N. peacekeepers, educators and other fellows move "into the heart and soul of their intrinsic leadership capabilities" -- which center Executive Director Betsy Myers calls "a more cutting-edge type of leadership."

The program "helps participants reduce emotional reactivity while increasing emotional and spiritual intelligence," said Hoffman President Raz Ingrasci.

"This is what enables the best leaders to consistently make and implement the right decisions in the absence of complete information."

The Hoffman Process underlying the Leadership Path program is supported in a University of California study published in the November issue of Explore: The Journal of Science and Healing.
