Briefs: Apple offers NBC shows on iTunes

December 6, 2005

NBC Universal and Apple said Tuesday they will offer television shows on the iTunes Music Store.

The deal expands Apple's online music retailing lineup to 300 episodes of 16 television shows. The latest program additions include "Law and Order," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Monk."

"We're thrilled to expand the iTunes video catalog with 11 popular TV shows from NBC, USA Network and the Sci-Fi Channel," Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive, said in a news release. "In our first two months (of launching video sales) we've sold more than three million videos, and have expanded our TV catalog from five shows to 16 shows," he added.
