Briefs: Swisscom provides electronic signatures

Swisscom said Wednesday it has been certified as a provider of qualified electronic-signature services.
Electronic signatures are administered based on public key infrastructure, which is a system that enables digital certificates to be issued, distributed and authenticated. The certificates are usually issued to people or machines and are used for secure computer-based communications, the telecommunications group said in a news release.

As a result, "now our customers can enhance their efficiency and simply their business processes even more," stated Swisscom Solutions Chief Executive Rene Fischer.
