Rhino Born From Artificial Insemination
Budapest Zoo's new born southern white rhinoceros (Ceratotherium simum)calf tries to stand up after its birth in Budapest, Hungary, Tuesday, late evening Jan. 23, 2007. Due to the brothersister relationship of the zoo's rhinos, there was no chance for natural breeding. Veterinarians of the Budapest Zoo in co-operation with their colleagues from Germany and Austria used an artificial insemination. This was the first birth of rhino with artificial insemination.
