Progress spacecraft to have fiery end
March 28, 2007The Progress 23 cargo spacecraft successfully undocked Tuesday from the orbiting International Space Station loaded with trash and unneeded equipment.
NASA said the cargo ship undocked shortly after 2 p.m. EDT from the Zvezda service module's aft port.
Before the cargo supply departed, station astronauts salvaged its valuable electronics, which will be recycled on a future vehicle.
National Aeronautics and Space Administration controllers in Houston said the cargo spacecraft would burn up upon re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere.
