Star Wars' Stamp Put to a Vote

March 30, 2007

The United States Postal Service has decided to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Star Wars with a stamp. Which one it is is up to you.

At the USPS site customers can vote from one of fifteen possible stamp ideas. The winning stamp will be available on May 26.

The stamps, obviously produced in conjunction with Lucasfilm, includes images of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Lei an R2D2, as well as more minor characters such as the stormtroopers, the Millennium Falcon, and Yoda.

The stamp vote follows the wrapping of several hundred mailboxes , to give them the vague likeness of R2D2, the little droid from the movie trilogy. A USPS spokeswoman said then that Lucasfilm and the USPS had entered into a partnership, and that no money had changed hands.

Visitors to the site also have the option of participating in a trivia contest to win the "ultimate fan experience".
