Briefs: Britain leads Europe in broadband

December 30, 2005

Britain is the most wired European nation, a research study released Friday found.

France had held that title for the past few years, but during the first nine months of 2005 there were 2.8 million broadband connections in Britain while the number reached 2.2 million in France, according to research group Point Topic.

Meanwhile, the group said that the total number of broadband lines worldwide increased by 25 percent during the same period to 190.3 million.
