Dell to Host Earth Day PC Recycling Event
April 13, 2007In conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency, Dell said that it will host an Earth Day e-cycling program in Washington D.C.
The event, held on April 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. EDT, will allow consumers to bring a PC -- including a monitor or the chassis -- as well as storage devices and other equipment, and recycle them for free. In general, agencies that recycle computer equipment usually charge a fee.
Television sets will be prohibited, although a computer display such as an LCD minitor will be allowed, according to Dell spokesman Sean Donohue. Dell branded televisions will also be accepted, he said via email.
Consumers are asked to remove all data from hard drives and other storage devices.
The event is also being supported by the National Recycling Coalition and TechTurn. TechTurn will process the electronics equipment dropped off during the event. Consumers can access the site at 13th and E Streets, N.W.
