Beefed-up cell phone unveiled by Samsung

SCH-i830
A cell phone touted as the ultimate business travel tool was launched Wednesday at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Samsung and Verizon collaborated on the SCH-i830, which allows world travelers to use the same phone number no matter where they might be, and maintain Internet connectivity as well.

Among the unit's bells and whistles are Bluetooth capability, stereo speakers and a Picsel Browser that allows the user to view PDF files and PowerPoint slides.

"With a compact form factor, abundance of familiar Windows Mobile features and the power of Verizon Wireless's high-speed EV-DO network, the i830 is the ultimate productivity device on the market," said Samsung Vice President Peter Skarzynski.

Such productivity won't exactly come cheap, however. The i830 retails at around $600 and will go on sale Jan. 10.
