Photobucket, MySpace Settle Photo-Sharing Dispute

April 25, 2007

A two-week old dispute between MySpace and photo-sharing site Photobucket has been amicably resolved.

In a posting by Photobucket chief executive Alex Welch on Tuesday, Welch announced that Photobucket would now be allowed to post content on MySpace user pages.

"Both our companies are committed to putting our users first," Welch wrote.

"Moving forward, we've established open lines of communication and procedures with MySpace to prevent a sudden block of Photobucket content in the future. We want our users to be able to share their content and understand it must be within the framework of MySpace's Terms of Service for it to appear on the site."

MySpace had previously blocked the Photobucket content, which included a Spider-Man 3 trailer, because of prohibitions on third-party ads.
