Weather Forecast Accuracy Gets Boost with New Computer Model

Prolonged and intense rainfall produced extensive flooding from Maryland to New York in late June. This image shows the 48-hour forecast of rainfall issued by the operational WRF model for the period June 26 to 28. The corridors of heaviest rain are shown in red, orange, and yellow.
