George Takei poses on the press line at the Universal Media Studios Emmy Party at the LG House in Malibu, Calif. in this Aug. 2, 2007 file photo. The actor, who is best known for his role as Hikaru Sulu in the original "Star Trek" series, has been immortalized in space with an asteroid bearing his name. The asteroid formerly known as the 1994 GT9 is now 7307 Takei in honor of the actor. (AP Photo/Dan Steinberg)

(AP) -- A piece of outer space named for George Takei is in kind of a rough neighborhood for somebody who steers a starship: an asteroid belt.
