An adapter or adaptor (-er is the accepted spelling in US English, both spellings in use in UK English [although US usage often is adapter for a person and adaptor for a device])[1][2][3] is a device whose purpose is to convert attributes of one device or system to those of an otherwise incompatible device or system.
