Springer launches new open access journal with Korean research society

May 24th, 2011

Beginning in June 2011, Springer will launch a new open access journal Human-centric Computing and Information Sciences (HCIS). As part of the SpringerOpen portfolio, it will be fully sponsored by the Korea-based Future Technology Research Association International (FTRA).

Human-centric Computing and Information Sciences is one of the official international journals of the FTRA. The journal covers the multifaceted aspects of human-centric computing technology and information sciences with its convergence strategies. The goal of this interdisciplinary journal is to bring together researchers from academia and industry as well as practitioners to share ideas, problems and solutions from this field.

"It is a great pleasure for us to collaborate with Springer in the publication of HCIS. With so many state-of-the-art technologies related to human-centric computing, we have considered how best to publish leading research work that is accessible to the widest possible audience. With this challenge in mind, we have signed an agreement with Springer to publish HCIS as an open access journal starting in mid-2011. Our journal will benefit from Springer's wide distribution channels and academic publishing expertise," said Professor James J. (Jong Hyuk) Park of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Seoul National University of Science and Technology.

Mark de Jongh, Senior Publishing Editor and coordinator of the Publishing program at Springer Korea, said: "We are very enthusiastic about the new open access journal Human-centric Computing and Information Sciences. The journal will not only focus on cutting-edge research in the growing field of human-computer interaction, but will also be a valuable addition to Springer's Korean publishing program." Springer currently co-publishes 36 society journals in English in Korea.

As an open access journal, all research results from HCIS will be freely available online.
