March 9th, 2012

Wendy Baltzer-Fox, PT, DPT, GCS, WCS, of Cranston, supervisor of Women's Health Physical Therapy Services at Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, has been presented with the Elizabeth Noble Award from the Section on Women's Health American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

The Elizabeth Noble Award is the APTA's Section on Women's Health's highest honor and is given to a member in good standing who has provided extraordinary and exemplary service to the field of physical therapy for women. Elizabeth Noble is the founder of the Section on Women's Health (then the Section on Obstetrics and Gynecology) and served as its first chairman. She was a driving force in the field of obstetric and gynecological physical therapy in the U.S. and is the author of multiple books for both the lay public and professionals.

"This is a huge honor, as it is recognition from my peers," said Baltzer-Fox. "I know all of the 12 previous recipients and feel they are all giants in the field. I am very humbled to be selected."

A graduate of Boston University, Baltzer-Fox earned a doctorate in physical therapy from Simmons College in Boston. She is board certified in geriatric physical therapy and is the only physical therapist in Rhode Island to also be certified in women's health. She is currently president of the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association, where she is an active member of the Section on Women's Health, the Oncology Section, and Health Policy.
